Default Olympus C4040 problems

Olympus C4040 problems

Hi guys,
I have just purchased a new C4040. Unfortuantely i am having a couple of prob's with this camera as compared to my last an Oly C860L compact.
1.) OEM Oly memory card doesn't work in camera - keeps asking to format, but formatting doesnt work. Thing is the card works fine in my USB card reader.
2.) Rear LCD screen on camera looks good and images look fine, but download the same image to my computer(S) and the images look crap (for want of a better description).
3.) Low-light pix (w/out flash) taken of lights/lasers in nightclub environments appear blurry and pixelated
4.)Changing shutter speed and apature has no affect on cancelling picture blurr.
5.)White balance doesn't work effectively, pix come up majenta like.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I did make this same post in the old forum, but i cant access the replies to it with the new format forum.

Ta muchly,

ps. i have only had the camera for 3 weeks (from new).

Definitely sounds like a bad camera to me, take it back and get another one. We've been most impressed with all of the Olympus C-3xxx and C-4xxx series of cameras so you must have a bad one there.

I have the same problem and a couple other people mentioned the majenta problem in low light. I think it is just a "feature" of the camera. You can use the preset for incandescent light and white balance all you want and still get the sunburn look on people in low light without the flash.

I have 2 of the small 16mb cards and they work just fine.

My photos usually turn out pretty good on the pc if they look good on the LCD.

I'm not an experienced photographer, so when I had blurred pictures of night shots I just figured I need a tripod or something to hold it steady for the extra time the shuuter needs to be open in low light.

Default 4040z

i had the 4040z camera and it was the best camera i ever bought it was amazing in any condition inside, it would actully take a pitch black middle of the night picture look like daylight. You difinitly have a bad one unfortunatly, My advice is to return it and get the same camera again, trust me when you see a good one work you will know what i mean. peace. chris carr

My camera takes great photos in low light too. When you took low light photos, did you have a person in it? With mine, all the colors seem perfect except for skin tones. Under an incandescent light without a flash people look like they are sunburned. All the colors around the person look normal. Turn on the flash and the person looks normal.
