I have recently purchased Olympus c8080 and I'm still learning it. I have noticed that the histogram displayed just before the shot is taken does not match the histogram displayed from the shot taken. WhenI compensate for darker object(to the left, towards minus)it is ok, but when I compensate for brighter subject (towards overexposure - plus) the resulting shot is a bit more overexposed than it should – the resulting histogram is a bit more to the right than the one displayed just before taking the shot.

Any ideas?

Hi! Just an idea: Hows the behaviour when you shoot in raw? Im asking because the ccd sensor data is 12bit and the camera convert it to 8bit jpg data which means an reduction in the dynamic range. When you shoot in raw this reduction wont happen.
