Default c-3020 focus

Hi, I just bought a c-3020 and love the pics it takes with the flash and outdoors. However, when I turn the flash off I get out of focus pictures....does that slow down the shutter speed? Any suggestions on how to improve that..Thanks

To take a clear handheld shot you need at least 1/30th of a second. Whenever you turn on the flash it bumps up the speed to at least 1/30th or faster...that means when you turn off the flash it slows the speed back down to depending on what the available light is. If it's below 1/30th of a second you'll need a tripod, AND a steady subject (any movement will be blurred).

That's the basics of photography...check out http://www.photocourse.com/ for a free online "book" on the basics.
