Default 1 bad pixel on LCD on 4040...

I just got a new Camedia 4040 and its great. I was able to fire it up and take good pictures right outta the box, and I have very little photography experience. One thing I noticed is that there is one bad pixel on the LCD, but it doesn't show up on the pictures. Should I be concerned?

For the price you paid for your 4040, I would take it back for warranty. I'm sure yours was much less than my $800 4040 I bought a few months back.

Pixels just go bad on LCDs. It shouldn't be something to be concerned about other than the annoyance of seeing it everytime you look at the LCD. That is why I'd get it replaced. As you noticed, it won't show up on your photos unless you get a bad pixel on the CCD (I think that what it is called) that actually gets the image from the lens.

I've had some skin tone color problems with my 4040 in low light without a flash, but other than that it has been a good first digital camera for me.

Supposedly 1 or 2 stuck pixels on the LCD are thought by Olympus to NOT be a defect.
They do not appear in the picture on your smart media card.
A stuck pixel on the image sensor is a whole different matter.
