Nice shots Torgny, not what I expected Uncle Joe to look like. Where's Pip and Estella? What is the last picture? His house? If so the blacksmithing seems to be paying quite well.

GoCubs,

I know the man quite well. The fourth is just his summer house. The building on the first picture is the department for all his bosses.

What´s that story about Uncle Joe, Pip and Estella. I have never heard it. Could you give me a hint?

Thanks for "looking in"

Torgny

Very nice summer home!
The reference was to Charles Dickens "Great Expectations" Uncle Joe was a blacksmith in the story.

Edit:
I really like your #2 picture and think it has a lot of possibilities, I hope you don't mind me editing your shot, I mean no disrespect, just giving ideas. If you don't want them here, just say so and I will delete them.

First one was just some brightness adjustment and some burning and USM.
#2 of 3 was taking #1 and converting to B&W using a channel mixer.

And #3 of 3 was also using #1 with making a new layer and slightly desaturating the whole image and then using the eraser at around 30% opacity to reveal a little more color on him and then a little contrast and some odd USM settings. I like the shot if you can't tell.

GoCubs,

Thanks very much for your great versions. They are far more, well, I lack the word for it; far better than my posted version that is too bright (I searched for the RAW file - I seldom PP .jpeg pictures. The RAW file is much darker but lacks the dense athmosphere)

(People I know often tell me to make brighter pictures but I like the dark and somewhat melancholic ....)

I cannot pick a favourite among your three versions. They are equally great to my eyes

Thanks for your effort and the detailed PS tips

(Cubs - what team sport is that?)

Torgny

Post scriptum
Yes, of course Dickens - but I actually haven´t read it.
