thank you. it was my first time outside
"the compound' [first i had to get use to the additonal weight of the camera , which now feels natural in my hand/s] w/ the new dslr, i knew that the phtos would be dark. i hadnt yet played w/ the white balance [i forget what the setting was] which would have given the red chair scene a more natural look intead of the yellow cast. i was tickled the Orson Welles look alike showed up! he was walking down the esculator so i had only one chance to get him.

I like all shots. I like in particular the "softness" of steel in the first shot.

i like the dark feel to these to some extent, but i think in some shots its just too dark.

#1- this is my favorite. its a really nice detail focused shot, i like the 2 hands and the glow from the diagonal light on the hands and the rail.

#2,3,4 do not work for me. there is little of interest as in #2 the guy is just sleeping and the person behind is cropped off awkwardly. #3 is just underexposed too much, especially in color, #4 the eyes are closed and its an awkward crop.

#5 i think has some good potential, if it were exposed a little better. just too dark for me, but from what i can see, the composition is pretty good.

#6 i really love the angle you shot this at. the angles created by the rails are perfect and including a person in the bottom right was very nice, especially a person with a hat. however, just a little too dark for me, lost too much good detail in those lines and person. and i would like it a little bit wider perspective, its just a shade too tight.

#7 again good potential, i would just like to see less of the dark at the top, concentrate more on the lines of the escalator and the great textures on the wall, maybe shooting from a lower perspective or in landscape format.

thanks for sharing, some good ideas in this set.

hards80. yes they're a bit dark. lighten #4 it looked a bit better, but nothing i'd post in a challenge anywhere. i like #1 best...the way the details of the overhead light come into view towards the end. i really like the second to last one b'c to repeat, i'm an orson welles fan [funny guy].
