I think you have to calibrate your monitor.

This, despite its simplicity, is a lovely shot.

Its not wheat. Its some kind of weed that grows in clumps on the land right beside a creek or river. The tops are some soft fluffy stuff.
My monitor? What's wrong with it? Its my eyes need adjusting.
Glad you see it for what it is Dave -- simplistic and the pic somewhat balanced. Thanks.

Often enough telling someone else to calibrate their monitors, is a case of the pot calling the kettle black. Even so, I've spent a lot of time calibrating my monitor. I've calibrated it for printing, and I've calibrated it for the WEB. I change profiles at the click of the mouse. On my monitor viewing this image on the WEB, it's flat and washed out. On my desktop, much better, but still a little washed out.

But I'm only one voice and one monitor.

Perhaps others might want to comment? I can very well be wrong. Monitors go out of calibration as they age. Last I checked, my monitor is no exception to this rule...

I agree. I think this is a nice simple shot, a nice fitting tribute to the end of winter and the browns we see.

it also does look a bit flat and washed out to me as well. and i have noticed that on a few of your recent shots Bynx, i have been meaning to comment, but have been a bit too busy trying to move.

I took the lo res file and in Photoshop moved Gamma to 50 thus darkening the image. Took that darker image along with original in Photomatix and made a fake HDR. This is the result.

The original version doesn't look washed out on my monitor. It looks like a cross between this latest version and the original.
