Default A small success

This year is the 75th anniversary of the New England National Park which is part of the Gondwana rainforests of Australia. As part of the celebrations the NSW Parks & Wildlife Service held a photography competition with various categories all showcasing different aspects of the Park. Mark and I decided to enter as an incentive to sharpen our skills.

We were absolutely delighted to find that we each had one entry among the 60 finalists chosen from the 312 entries. What a buzz!!

#1 Mark's finalist entry, 'Moss Covered Hillside', in the Our Views section.
Nikon D3000, 18-55mm lens. Exif data embedded.

#2 My finalist entry, 'Tiny Toadstools' (10 mm caps), in the Life Up Close section. Exif data embedded. (Also entered in Steve's BiWeekly Challenge, 'Diagonals' at Easter.)

The finalists' photos were printed at approx 12"x 14" and are now on exhibition for a month at the Dorrigo Rainforest Centre. We went to the opening of the exhibition (took a leave day from work) and had a very enjoyable time comparing everyone's photos. We now have a benchmark to work toward.

It was fun and a great way to take our skills a step forward.

Cheers

Bernice & Mark

Thank you very much for your comments Hrisi and Ordo.

Well not the actual winners, Hrisi, but to be finalists was a really good 'winning feeling'. My main concern was that the image quality would not be good enough to print at the enlargement size stipulated (approx 12" x 14"0) so it was a relief to see the prints (entry was electronically by email attachment) as well as an honour to make the final sixty.

Cheers

Bernice
