Default WARNING! disturbing subject (death) and beautiful landscape

I had a very unusual day last weekend. I went on a hike and saw things I had never seen before during any of my hikes.

I noticed a helicopter parked out on top of one of the cliffs as I parked my truck and thought that was very unusual. I grabbed my camera as always and off I went.

From where I parked I had to hike to the beach below and as I got down to the beach I noticed an unusual amount of people out on the rocks right below the helicopter on the cliff.

I realized on my way down that the helicopter belonged to the sheriffs dept. At this point I was guessing that these where new sheriffs training, or a sheriffs family having a funeral. Things where very unusual.

I continued on along the beach then up and over the bluff that the helicopter was parked on. This is the view you get once you cross over to the other side.

This is called sacred cove. It once used to be a popular nude beach but now it used frequently used by hikers and patrolled by the ranger. Although you still occasionally see some nude sunbathers.

Oh yeah, I carried a Rokinon (rockfish) 8mm fisheye lens with me.

Well this is where things got uncomfortably unusual. From where I took the fisheye shot I took two steps and noticed a body lying on the rocks under the cliff. It was very disturbing. I stood there for a minute trying to put all the pieces together of the unusual things I have been seeing to this point. Then I saw a couple of sheriffs walk out from behind the cliff and stand over the lifeless body.

I then heard the helicopter start and I quickly changed my lenses while standing on this steep trail. Here's the helicopter taking off circling around and landing on the rocks at exactly 12:45, low tide.

As soon as the helicopter landed on the rocks, a couple of coroners and sheriffs walked over and put the body into a bag and carried it into the helicopter.

What a tough job. Here's a couple of shot's, one of the cliff in perspective to the body.

As soon as they got the body into the helicopter they left. Then everything was peaceful again. Wow man, that was heavy. After a couple of minutes I continued down the trail to the tide pools. Just a few yards away from where the body was there's a cave I like hiking to. It goes under the end of the bluff just about where the person fell/jumped from.

After things cleared out the students made their way over to "the area". Some where interested in what the instructor had to say, and others where more interested in what they just saw happen.

And finally! Another thing I have never seen from shore. An awesome sight on my way back to my truck.

What a day.
