Default Not "on the street where I live" ~ but "in the outback where I travel"

G'day all

As the 'bi-weekly shootout' has a 3-image limit, this 'photo-essay' is placed here instead ... hope you enjoy it

1- Here's home on the road - an average-sized motorhome [7,3m long x 4,5tonnes] with solar panels on the roof & all the bells & whistles we need for living

In the outback (1) by ozzie_traveller, on Flickr

2- Not so much 'where we live' but more 'where we stop for a cuppa'

In the outback (2) by ozzie_traveller, on Flickr

3- part of the rugged Flinders Ranges in South Australia. Rugged - not tall like european mountains, these ranges are 'home' to the world's largest uranium deposits. The Arkaroola tourist resort does a full rebuild on their Toyo Landcruiser 4wd vehicles at 18 months of age and sells them for scrap-metal at 3yrs of age

4- these are typical of my "morning companions" as I go for a walk

In the outback (5) by ozzie_traveller, on Flickr

5- and then I meet all sorts of wonderful people each day

In the outback (6a) by ozzie_traveller, on Flickr

6- often at night I have a campfire ... geez it's a hard life for some of us :-)

7- other travellers are the road trains - 55metre long, 62-wheel trucks carrying supplies, cattle or sheep, sometimes mining ores. The mine ore trucks have 4 or 5 trailers and are allowed to carry 140tonnes per load from the mine to the port

Hope you enjoy this little skirmish with 'where I live' ~ maybe you'll come out here one day and see what I / we aussies love so much

Regards, Phil

Great series, Phil. Each picture wothy of a comment. May I choose these ones as my personal favourites

Torgny

Great compositions. There is thought behind all of them all. Envy your vehicle. Can I rent it for a month?

Thankyou Torgny for your thoughts

We aussies welcome travellers from anywhere ... even those who say:- "Location: Northeast Passage 10; Gothenburg, Sweden, Northern Europe, Planet Earth, Outskirts of Milky Way, Universe"

Travelling in the the outback of Australila is both wonderful & adventurous and extremely safe - although we do need to post signs for our overseas visitors saying that "Australian vehicles are right-hand-drive and we drive on the left of the highway"

Whenever you are planning a visit "downunder" give me a yell .... !
Regards, Phil

Phil

Thanks for sharing your 'outback' (not in your street) photos. Fantastic images of our country!

I particularly like 3, 4, 6 and 7. Having grown up in Tassie, then lived in Europe for several years - now settled in Adelaide, I know I have a lot of our country to see.

Thanks for sharing... and like you, I welcome friends near and far to visit (including especially Steve forum friends like Torgny!)

Regards

Paul
