Default Rain-touched Rose

I took this picture in my driveway with a Canon EOS5 film camera. I scanned it with an Epson Perfection 1660 Photo scanner. This image does not do justice to this flower. It doesn't show the velvety texture and the color is close but not quite there. My son held an umbrella for me while I took the photo. He asked me if he should hold it over me or the camera. I told him the rain wouldn't hurt me. Please give some honest comments. Thanks, Lou

I imagine that the original colors were pretty rich. It would have been nice to see them in their full digital glory. Unfortunately this picture is a bit on the soft side; it's out of focus.

I like the DOF though. It keeps some of the leaves in 'focus' at the bottom of the picture and then slowly gets more blurred as you move up the picture. It gives a nice gradient effect to the background.
