I had to use the recorder on my hp-r707. I couldn't get a perfect still shot. I'm a newbie. So I captured the ligtening frame by frame. Took forever, but I hope you like the results. Almost droped the camera the thunder was so loud. LOL!

i like your shot blackvelvet! it is really atmospheric and nicely framed!
imo there are a few things that could make it even better.i dont know what camera you are using but it would be better to try to capture the lightning on a still instead of video so you can have enough resolution to produce better detail. I know though that lightnings are tricky to capture..
also by post editing the image on your computer you would be able to show a bit more contrast.
i ve run you image through photoshop (i hope you dont mind!)and tried to bring out some detail and some contrast.
In any case you ve done really well, keep on shooting!
