Hi folks;

Many years ago, Life Magazine featured a shot of Pablo Picasso "painting" a minotar using a flashlight. I asked this boy to paint a horse for me. He was quite intrigued by the challenge.

nice shot tom!

one way to increase the "neatness" to this effect...is use a flash...

that lets you have a nice solid sharp child, with a blurred 'painting' around them!

you'd have to play with flash exposure to get it right...

there's a balance between good flash and good blur

nice idea!

Hi Julie;

Sorry I meant to reply to this, but work got in the way. (I dunno, something about needing a pay check this month...:-))

Settings... let's see... two children, add sugar, hotdogs, and a campfire...

My best guess would be to follow Vito's advice regarding using a flash to freeze the action. Experiment with shutter speeds, aperture and ISO. This shot was at ISO 100 at f-6.3 2.0 seconds (shutter priority) If I had the slightest idea what I was doing, I would have tried a few other settings. (next time I'm buying the sparklers)

Regards,
