This sailed into our port last night. as Idid not get into town from work until 7pm, I did not get good light to photograph in so they are not the greatest shots. I noticed only after taking the photos that there was a young guy hanging off the sail on the left of the photo. This ship takes our youth on adventures around Australia while training themin running the shipand is magnificent up close, This shot was best part of a kilometer away.

If you are interested this site tells you about the Leeuwin

http://www.leeuwin.com/about.htm

Im hoping it does leave town too soon as I would love to get some better shots.

thanks, I like sepia for this kind of photo too. My dad was naval in England as a young man, still gets a pension even though he left UK in 1958. However he also was involved in the air side of it, I never knew the navy was about planes as well.

Gorgeous photo, aladyforty!

I like the color pic cuz it is a blend...of recent history...(zodiac) and ancient history, the days when ships of sail dominated the seas.

Its portrait orientation also emphasizes the "tall" ship.

Well done.
