I found this beautiful stained glass windnow in the Queen Victoria Building in the central business district of Sydney. The building has a series of domes and domelets with exquisite stained glass windows and extensive wood panelling throughout. Queen Victoria was built in 1898 to replace the original Sydney Markets. This Byzantine like structure fills an entire city block. This proved to be difficult image to properly expose because the stained glass was very bright in relation to the inner surrounding which were very dim. This image was chosen from a series of bracketed shots. A touch of curve adjustment in photoshop brought out the rest of the interior of the archway and dome.

Equipment: Leica Digilux 2, f3.6, 1/50 sec.

Nice shot! Have you thoguht about doing a composite image of two different exposures to increase the dynamic range?

choeschen, no i haven't thought about that, but that would be something i could aspire to do. currently, it think it's beyond my post-processing/photoshop abilities.

Intersting suggestion, coeschen !

davephoto, you can also enhance part of the dynamics of this shot by using a big-soft burn brush (on midtones) over the stained glass windows : you will get deeper colors (and the yellow parts will become more noticeable too ).
