Not in my back yard but I think that's what the inside of my washing machine looks like! What the H--- is that thing.

The Oregons Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI) has a contraption that has all kinds of tracks made of wire on which steel balls roll. A chain elevator carries the balls to the top where they begin their trip through the "maze". There are several traps that capture a ball and hold it until the next one comes along. Also a number of "switches" that allow one ball to follow one path but in so doing changes the switch so the next ball takes a different path. The second ball causes the first path to be selected again.

This "machine" fill a plexiglass enclosure that is about 4ft x 4ft x 8ft high. It sits just outside the entrance to the IMAX theater and is fun to watch while you are standing in line.

Its just some sort of modern art contraption thingee - shot it at the Science Centre in Toronto a few years back. They had a big exhibit with a few dozen of those types of mechanical sculptures. Made for some interestin' photos, but I'll be damned if I could figure out their purpose, heh.

Some were rather funky, tho...I'll admit.

It looks like something you would only see up in the mountains with the banjo pluckers.

Make mine a quart
