Remember the 5-cent merry-go-rounds of yesteryear. Sitting on a hard plastic pony that went up and down and around in circles while your father stood nearby with arms folded and pretending to pay attention everytime you came briefly in to view.

No?

Me neither. Just a vivid imagination

- one of the last remaining 5-cent merry-go-round rides in North America (still operating for a nickel in Port Dalhousie, Ontario).

Nice shot. My only comment is that those "plastic" ponies you refer to are actually carved wood if that's an original antique.

I may stand corrected - I'm not sure whether the ponies are wooden or plastic, or if the ride is actually an antique. If so, you'd be right.

Thanks :-)

Beautiful shot! Great light and colours! And the ones I remember were made of wood. I saw one in an antique shop in Toronto a few years ago. It was dull and chipped and they were asking a small fortune for it. ( the horse, not the carasel).

If I were rich and famous I would have bought it. Needless to say ...............

I just love the idea of how pony carousels harken back to a comparatively simpler time.

Anyone seen the movie Carousel with Gordon McCrae and Shirley Jones? <disclaimer - dating myself, lol>

For a life-changing experience...ride one of those old wooden pony carousels with a CD-walkman that's playing Claramae Turner's rendition of "When you walk through a storm..." (you'll know what I mean)
