I was fascinated by the way this tree continued to grow around the rope.

Don't know how long it has been there or what purpose the rope served. Maybe a childs rope swing and this section was just the excess rope wrapped around the tree to keep it out of the way ??

The rope is only around 4 feet off the ground.

Gotta be one strong rope to withstand the pressure of the tree growth. Very interesting.

It looked like 12mm Polypropylene, same rope I use. No, I didn't put it there !

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"It has a breaking strain of 2030 Kg, which, I don't know if you know this, would withstand a lot more !! The rating usually means a safe maximum, but it's got to take more, to be rated at whatever.

style="BACKGROUND-COLOR: #000000"Next time I pass by, I'm going to have a closer look, to see where the higher end leads to.

Wow, that is a realy interesting shot! The rope must not have been very tight around the tree otherwise it would have killed it.

Do find out where the other end leads Sherlock!
