My first post but here goes. I think the moon shows more detail when it is a crescent. Whenthe moon is full or near it the image seems a little washed out or flattened.

This one was taken with the camera bolted directly onto the back of my small astro scope.

Hey Welcome! You're right Keef, I think that may be because it's not as bright then, compared to when it is a Full moon. That is a nice shot with great details. Nice set-up it sounds like too. I will someday own an adaptor for a nice celestial telescope for these types of photographs. I was just using my 75-300, f/3.5 - 5.6 that night, which so far is my longest reaching lens for now.
