Default Shade and light

This spot is heavily shaded by big trees but now and again the sunshine comes through a gap. In the few minutes it was shining through this gap, these yellow poppies were conspicuous even from the other side of the garden.

Fine shot - it's very well observated!

good job.

(pitty about the burned out highlights - but it is indeed a difficult shot)

Default Shade & sun

Thanks Klaus! You're right about the highlights & I've just made another attempt: the flowers had changed a bit since the first try the other day and the sun was shining through a different gap & I lowered the exposure and then discovered that it helped to add a bit each of blackpoint & whitepoint (using ACDSee). I hope this link works - if not, the picture's in the Garden Gallery of the Garden Web -http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/gardgal/msg0518261410462.jpg
