Default Photographing the moon

I tried to photograph the moon recently. But found it impossible to have both texture on the moon and the surroundings, either texture on the moon and black surroundings, or visible surroundings and white moon. It was not especially dark at the moment (i live in northern sweden, we have bright evenings).

Is it possible to get good photos on the moon? Or do you have to do some tweaking by taking two photos and merging them together?

Hi,

Don't you have the possibility to use a nightflash.
The camera first flashes for the surroundings, after that leaving the shutter open for the darker parts ?

Greetings,
Frank
