Default FZ1 aperture f2.8

Can anyone tell me if the FZ1 only has the one aperture of f2.8 or does it have a range. It says in various reviews that it has a maximum aperture across the full range of the zoom, but are there other apertures available. If there is only one aperture does this mean the the depth of field is very short.

The aperture range is from f2.8 to f8. The "constant f2.8" refers to the fact that the maximum aperture available doesn't change throughout the zoom range and stays at the relatively high value of f2.8; quite a boast currently.

Depth of field is certainly very limited at f2.8 at the maximum zoom (420mm at 35mm equivalent). However, the CCD and lens design is very much scaled down from 35mm and has correspondingly greater depth of field for each corresponding combination of effective focal length and f stop value.
