Bayourebel,
That is a male "Ox Beetle": Strategus aloeus. Pretty common in Louisiana. It is from the "Rhinoceros Beetle" subfamily of the Scarab beetle family. Adults active late spring to early fall. http://www.beetle-experience.com/gal-aloeus-l.htm Regards, Steven |

I seen beetles like this in Costa Rica. I have a photo somewhere. They were huge over there. I'll try to find the photo.

Hi Bayourbell!
Nice photo! At the Moment I work in Zurich, Maybe I can find something exotic there, but probably not as exotic as yours ;-) Problem being, when I get out of the company, I am so exhausted, I just walk home and thats it. Maybe that is why everything is a bit calmer on this forum, everybody is bustling about, scared to make hay as long as the sun did not sink completly or the thunderstorm broke loose. Cheers, Michael |

Yup. Just saw it, was happy that Bayou rebel did post again.
Somone had bumped it up I guess. Sadly, Byou rebel was not posting new stuff. And, btw. you are an old processer ;-) |
