Sarah, thanks for all the info. about the TZ5. It's certainly a good option as a carry around camera. I just wish it had an EVF. I really dislike using the LCD to compose and shoot pictures (even though the TZ5 LCD has high resolution (460,000 dots) when compared to just about any other camera. I also don't like the limitation in terms of camera modes (no Av, Sv or M modes), even though I understand this camera targets a different audience.

The TZ designation that Panasonic gave to the TZ-5 and its siblings stands for Travel Zoom. That is exactly the market that the TZ-5 is targeted upon. Yes, I too would like an EVF or an OVF. It is not ideal,but I have learned to cope with just using a pixel dense LCD screen to frame my photos.
