I just got a new fz28 and am very excited. Since this is my first nicer camera, I was wondering if I should be using a UV filter to protect the lens.

Any thoughts/opinions on this? If the answer is yes, can anyone recommend a good filter that won't affect image quality?

Thanks in advance!

All filters effect the IQ .....how much is the question, usually not enough to be a concern......

I use Hoya HMC UV filters as they are multi coated which can help prevent lens flare..... You can get one for a FZ28 for about 16 dollars at 2 filters.

Just to add ....I believe you are better off to keep the lens hood on the camera and do not use a filter.....but many do not agree.
