I am a proud owner of an FZ-20 and have used it for more than a few years. My only issue (I don't blow anything up over 8x10) was the inability to use anything above ISO 200 and end up with a nice looking picture with no noise. It is really aggravating.

So, I have been waiting for the introduction of a large sensor 10MP or so camera just like my FZ-20. Tick, tick, tick...

Then I decided to buy a pocket one and the Fujifilm f31fd was discontinues and costs more now than it did new, same for the f30.

Panny introduces the LX-3. A $400 24-60mm which is really not suited for me. Oh, why not a 28-90mm. Anyway fine camera, but not what I was looking for.

I bought the previous low light champ from Nikon before the d700, the d50 for $250 off Kraigslist. It had 1000 snaps and a 18-70mm 3.5-4.5 NIB from a professional photographer for $100 and a 50mm 1.8 for $75 (the af not afd).

So I am at $450 and my only downside is 6mp but with this camera ISO 1600 is very useable.

I still use the FZ-20 but really like the Nikon.

Picture was taken at 70mm f/4.5 no flash ISO 1600

The D50 is a wonderful camera and I have many 20 X 30 inch prints on my walls from one.

I also have used ISO1600 and a F 1.8 lens in museums and such with great results.
