I have a Panasonic Lumix, 10X, TZ1.

I am having a big problem trying to photograph silver jewelry. Any clue as to what settings I should be using. No matter what I try the jewelry shows up with a glare and not vivid or sharp. Thanks Barb ( njbarba@verizon.net )

Welcome to the forums.

I've moved your thread down to our Panasonic Forum, where members with your camera can offer some tips.

Your best bet would be to post some downsized samples of images you're seeing problems with, so that members can offer some suggestions to help you improve your results.

How to post your photos

Most of the time, it's a matter of lighting (so that you're using a diffused light source to reduce glare and reflections). For example, here's a manufacturer of commercial products to help out (and you can do the same thing at home using materials like tupperware containers, etc.):

I am no expert, but obviously an external flash would help?

Before I got my flash I was trying to take some snaps of my girlfriends silver necklace and various jewelry and discovered that difusing the flash help enormously.

I did this in a makeshift way by making a small loop of white paper and siting it over the popup flash, well it improved the shots thats for sure, set to apperture priority, F5.6. Its a starting point....

(edit) Suppose I should have asked/noticed what camera etc first, my experience was based on my FZ30.....
