Default I know why Amazon is out of stock of the GH1...

I thought that Amazon might be out of stock of the GH1 due to the fact that maybe Panasonic has a successor planned.

Nope! A quick check of eBay shows a huge number of GH1's being sold without the kit lens. The body-only listings are going for $750-ish, with separate listings for the lens going for $750-ish.

At those resale prices, why wouldn't you buy the GH1 solely to split it up?

(I'm also wondering who is buying all those GH1 bodies...)

Panasonic is rumored to be re-aligning the MFT product line. Keep in mind that The GH1 was sort of generation 1.5 and not the second generation. So with changing the future and with the introduction of the new Olympus EPL1 there is pressure on Panasonic.

The problem is that nobody has a well focused view on what the future really holds for the Panasonic MFT line.

Also remember that the 2nd gen of the panasonic m4/3 has resolve the cdaf issue that prevented the gh1, g1, and GF1 form using all the 4/3 from sigma and and olympus. So we may see a GH2 by years end.
