Default Lumix DMC-FZ8

what settings do you guys recommend for taking up close indoor photos with standard room lighting? basically, I'm wanting to take good photos of some coins I have and I'm a camera newbie.

Welcome to the Forum and to the Panasonic P+S folder. We're please that you dropped by.

Firstly the camera must be on a tripod for maximum sharpness, then the camera must be placed into the macro or close-up mode, then the light adjusted to light the coins as desired, then shoot the shots normally.

Your shutter speed is going to be very slow so you will probably want to us the self timer in the 2 second position, to trip the shuttler, as you do not want to move the camera on the tripod at all during the exposure.
