Default 50i frame rate? I am confused :(

Hi fox,

If I'm not wrong, the difference between the 1080p and 1080i notation is:

  • 1080p is the capability of storing the full 19201080 dots at every frame.
  • 1080i is the capability of storing half of the 19201080 dots at every frame, the first frame store all the odd horizontal dots and second frame store all the even dots.
OK, but now, the DMC-FZ100 Specifications says:

"1920 x 1080 60i (NTSC) / 50i (PAL) Full-HD Movie in AVCHD Format".
Now I am relay confused.

What it mean? Is it actually a 1080p 30p/25p?, What is 60i/50i?, how and when it is used?

Please, can someone clarified it, for all the beginners like me?
