Default Pre-AF and AF-macro, to use or not?

I use my FZ35 in most of the time for pictures of birds, even after some time of use doesn't know the benefits of Pre-AF, i don't know if the best option is Q-AF, C-AF or none of the two, I have 03 batteries then the consumption of energy is not a problem for me, since it swallows me some benefit. Another doubt is if I should leave the option AF-macro tied the whole time, i am not sure if the use of AF-macro brings some improvement of sharpeners in the pictures in wide or tele that are not macros, i know that in the Ai mode the AF-macro is tied automatically starting from 11x. The times the focus speed is essential in the pictures of birds and the AF-macro delays a little the focus, but if it has won of sharpeners and details can be worth the feather.
