Hawgwild I appreciate your adjusted image but it's nothing like what a galah really looks like. He now looks "sunburnt" for want of a better word.

In the old days of black & white in my darkroom I would have used a device to prevent it being burnt in on the side of his head for a few seconds. I guess there's a way I can do it PS, I'll experiment in due course.

Pat, if you have either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, you can use either "shadows and highlights" or the burn/dodge tool, whichever works best for you.
Always use tasteful words - you may have to eat them.
