Default What bug is this?

Any idea what this could be? The size is really, really small - just about 3mm, but what a splendid pattern within that miniscule size! I thought it to be some kind of caterpillar, but it moved too quickly like a millipede and got blown away by wind before I could turn it over to watch its legs. Help appreciated in ID-ing this interesting bug. Taken with my FZ28 at full 18x zoom with Raynox 250 attached.

I checked Field Guide to Insects of N.A. - saw nothing resembling your bug. I'm wondering if possibly a male of some sort carrying eggs. Noticed you are from India - located a univ. in India that is compiling insects - maybe send your photo to them - who knows might be rare and would be of great interest to the entomologists. http://www.insectsofindia.in/

Really interesting insect and excellent photo. Always thought India would be great place for bird watching / nature holiday.

Raghu, that's a crazy looking thing! I'm pretty sure it's a caterpillar of some sort, but don't know which kind. You sure get strange looking creatures in your part of the world!
