Default Panasonic Lumix FZ-35 question

Why is the old Panasonic Lumix FZ-35 still so highly rated even today ? This model is no longer made but I have noticed that a very large number of people still rave about it. Was there something special about it as compared to the newer models ?

Well, I had one until I broke it, and have an FZ150, so can compare. The FZ35 was a bit lighter, did not have the lens sticking out a wee bit so felt tougher, took pictures just as good under most conditions, and was a joy to use. Drawbacks were, it would not shoot RAW bursts. Would do one and then I had to wait for processing. Did not have a hot shoe either. In my opinion it was a great camera. The only reason I bought an FZ150 was figuring the FZ35 would get worn out and did not want to wait to get a backup, and it is a good thing as I would have been without a camera when I dropped the FZ35.
FZ7 and FZ35 - Deceased, FZ18 - Given daughter, FZ150, E-PL1 and G3 - In use.
