Default Achieving "good manual focus"

Hi all,

Any ideas regarding achieving acurate focus at inifinity, as its not just a case of pushing the lever all the way towards its stop, if you do any small object is out of focus, and the same if not quite enough, wonder where d.o.f comes in here etc - over a certain f stop everthing from a to b should be in sharp focus.

You're right in that simply following the on-screen infinity focus indicator is no guarantee of just that- infinity focus.
My advice would be to meter for your chosen subject first- then manually focus on something else distant but maybe larger/clearer than your chosen subject- using "MF Assist" will aid this as the image on the LCD is magnified- re-compose then shoot.
I wouldn't worry too much about a given f/... stop with regards DOF and focus- with the distances your looking at and the size of sensor in the "FZ" range,it will make little difference- other than the amount of light available to you.
