My guess would be the Eurasian Oystercatcher.

Thank You for your help, yep It must have been an oyster catcher, I just didd'nt realise they where so big, I have only seem them sat or walking on the rocks here In Devon Uk, but never seen them fly, I just assumed they where quite small - smaller than gulls or gannets.
