Default Next camera???

I'm hoping for Christmas to get an additional camera to my FZ40.

What I'm considering is:

FZ200

G5

GX-1

I had hoped that a "new" FZ200 would come out with an extended zoom, such as the LZ30 with 35X zoom.

What do you nice people think would be the best addition for me? I primarely do landscapes, macro, wild life.

Thanks in advance!

I think the FZ200 would cover all your subjects.... the G5 and/or GX-1 would require more than one lens for your requirements...
If you want more than 600mm on offer in the FZ200, you could get a tele-converter lens for it...

Yes, I'm in the process of getting a teleconverter for my FZ40. I realize I would need separate lens for the other two cameras.

The mere fact that you're getting a tele-converter lens for your FZ40 indicates you're happy with it- thus, would have all your medium to long range use covered.
Then again- the FZ40's 25mm wide angle takes care of you landscape shots also....

So,let's try another angle.... is there something you're not happy with in your FZ40...?

G'day Carol

To me the real advantage of the FZ200 is the constant f2,8 lens ~ something that is very doubtful to be retained if/when the zoom goes further [24x to 30x - 35x]

The other side of all the long zooms is the eternal need for a tripod / monopod for most long-lens shooting

Regards, Phil

Simon, not at all! This is a great camera that I really enjoy. I just wanted to get a second camera. I would definitely still keep the FZ40.

"FZ200 is the constant f2,8 lens"

Phil; that is definitely something I should take into consideration!

Carol, you say you want a second camera- though I'm still not clear why- given that you clearly still like/enjoy your FZ40...

Looking for something "similar" but better/higher spec... has to be the FZ200...

Something for the pocket (as a walkabout town cam or indoors)- maybe the G1-X with fast prime lens attached-
or even the LX-7...?
