Default Panasonic ZS7 Focusing issue

Good evening, I have a Panasonic DMC-ZS7 that I've greatly enjoyed. But for the past two days I've had periods when out of nowhere the camera wouldn't take the picture in focus. I hear it trying to focus, so took out the battery then started the camera up again and it worked properly. Could this just be the battery going bad even though it's reading a full charge or is this a sign the camera is dying. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Scott

I have an FZ28, and I have had similar problem on two occasions - one, when the camera fell inside the car from the dashboard on to the floor, and the other, when the camera was exposed to severe weather in the peak of summer. However, on both occasions, after switching it off for some time (something like 2 to 3 hours), the camera came back to normal functioning.
