Default FZ1 and indoor shots

I have had some time now to experiment with the FZ1. As with most people, I love the stabilized zoom and have fun with outdoor shots. As with most who have posted problems, I have trouble with indoor shots in relatively low light. FZ1 FAQ does not give me help here. Colors and tones are off. Is it primarily a matter of a weak flash. Will a slave flash solve some of my problems. Someone help, please. Thanks.

A slave flash will work wonders. You can get a grip handle that has a hotshoe on it, mount the grip to the tripod mount of the camera, attach the flash to the grip, and set the flash to "slave" mode.

Not all flashes have a slave mode. One inexpensive one that does is the Sunpak Digital Flash (that's its actual name). It isn't too strong, but only uses 2 AA batteries and is small & light. Works fine out to 20 feet, maybe even a bit further.

The auto white balance is not good. Try setting it manually. You will be amazed at the difference this makes.
