i got a question, what is the 55/52 step down ring for? doesn't the adapter take the 55mm, so why not just buy 55mm stuff instead of buying a step down to buy 52 stuff? is there more variety at 52? also, when i buy filters for the fz3, can i stack them? like have the UV, then a polarizing on top? just curious, sorry for the newbie questions...

There is certainly no reason to get a 55-52mm step ring if you dont have or plan on getting 52mm filters. Yes, filters are stackable. I keep a 55mm uv filter on my fz1 at all times and stack whatever other filter/converter I'm using on top of that. Additonally, the use of a metal uv filter will provide metal threads for a more secure fit for other filters. Frequent on/off filter connection will gradually wear out theplastic threads on the fz3 adapter.
