Guys i have a friend that is looking at either of these cameras & i have suggested the FZ-20 as it has the Image stab & a little more reach.

Any convincing argument you can help me with ..if indeed the panasonic is as i believe...a better choice.

The Oly 770 (...don't own it) is a great, great camera. Oly just makes great digicams, period. It's an older technology though, and I don't think it compares with the 20. It doesn't have IS, which you'll come to appreciate. The 20 is larger though. Oly vs FZ-10? I would go with the FZ-10. Oly vs. FZ-1? I would go with the FZ-1 (barely, due to IS and IR capabilities). Oly vs the 20? The 20 hands down.

Tell your friend to wait a month or so and look at the new FZ5. 5mp, IS, 12x zoom. Much closer to the size of the 770.
