The fz5 lens and lens housing physically extend an additional 1mm or so as zoom is applied from full wide (1x). I know the fz1 doesn't have any additional extension as zoom is applied. I don't think any of the other fz series cameras do this. This seems like it could besomething else to go wrong. Why do you suppose Panychose to do this with the fz5? It increases slightly at different intervals - you can see movement at, say, 3x, 6x, 9x and then there is a significant larger extension surge at 12x. The macro function on the fz5 also is different than the fz1. Something does happen around 3x zoom in macro but it isn't as pronounced. The fz5 kind of loses any useful zoom macro beyond three and then suddenly at 12x snaps back into focus from about 3ft.

I dont know of any other ultra zoom cameras that exhibit this additional extension. Anybody?
