I see with the FZ-30 it does not have f 2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. Should this put one off the camera? It only goes down to f 3.7 so should one really be worried?

Also - I'm wondering why it isn't f 2.8 throughout. I know this is a technical question but maybe someone can give me a very small explanation (for the stupid person I am!) and why did they manage to have f 2.8 throughout the entire zoom on the FZ-20 (BTW - I, or rather my family, has an FZ-20) but not manage to put it on the FZ-30, a better camera it seems in every other department?

Hope you can help,

It's only half a stop so I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you do a lot of low-light photography and need the extra shutter speed. I don't know the technical reasons why Panny did this but it may have something to do with the new, larger sensor and the need to keep the lens size and camera price reasonable.
