There was a discussion on spot focus in one of the recent posts. I tried spot focus with my FZ3. The church you see is more than 3 km away (yes, 3 km) and the plants are just 7-8 feet away in the balcony of my office. Though the gap betwen plants looks spacious here, it was very narrow on the viewfinder and I found it a little difficult to train the focus on the steeple. The result, I feel, is worth the effort. Comments welcome.

Sometimes it's not easy, for spot focus "opens" of some degrees.

If you have these plants, it can happen that the focus goes on them (as it occurs with my FZ20) so manual focus would be of aid here....
