Panasonic have finally posted offical images from the DMC L1. So far i'm fairly impressed with the first shot - the colours look spot on and their is plenty of detail, actually its shocking how much detail is in that image even if you zoom in 300-500% within Photoshop.

I did a side by side comparison of the L1 and the Sony Alphas APS-C DSLR (I was unable to obtain the same sample shots from a Nikon D200 or Canon 30D which woudl have been a better comparison). These are from a prepoduction camera and from these 100% crops from ISO 100-800 the L1 has less noise and more detail throughout the images which is a bit suprising. The only negative with these samples is the banding through ISO400-1600 but this is consistent and not random so looks like its a fault that should be readily fixed before the final production version hits the shelfs.
