Very nice! I found that ISO 800 on my DL2 works fine if correctly exposed.

Thanks guys. It was a fun day.
Daniel. We don't have a lot of birds around right now, but a few obviously. Spring time and on is the best for birding around here. Hi Tom. I shot them in DNG. You'll love your 300 on this camera. Fast AF! Hope it stops raining there so you can get out and shoot. mntgal. Thanks, and thanks for the info. I found too with my last Pentax, that if you got the exposure right, the noise isn't all that bad-even at 1600. Thanks Darren, and ala mntgal, you're right about the high ISO. Perfectly useable. |

Thanks for the kind comments Jim, Scott, Tim, Rodney and royce. I'm very lucky to be able to use this lens for birding. It's very sharp wide open, and performance is first rate. Makes me wonder what an f/2.8 *300 is like. Must be an awesome lens.......cheers....Don

Great shots Don
I especially like the two of the Spotted Towhee. Have not tried RAW yet but after seeing these I think I'll try the RAW plus JPEG option on the K10D and see how they compare. Ian Mc. |

Thanks Ian. I never used to shoot in RAW for a long time too, but then I started, and saw the advantages of WB and exposure flexibility, and now that's all I shoot. Plus if you goof up a photo in pp, you can always go back to the original starting point...cheers....Don.
