Yet glass no matter how pure.... refracts blocks and disperses photons.

You have a particle traveling through a dense physical medium not the vacum of space.

And in this case NOT matched even in optimal (55mm) footprint to the lens it is sitting on top of... rather undershooting/covering it by 7mm.
