Default Lens Tune Up

Is it considered normal to get a "lens tuneup" from the manufacturer? I am noticing a softness from my Tamron 18-250, especially at the long end. I have had for several years with a lot of use. Would a "tune up," if there is such a thing, make a difference?

Didn't realize the 18-250 had been out that long. I don't have one, so am not sure of the construction, but do have an older 28-200 that I picked up cheap because it was in bad shape. After cleaning it up, I found it had similar softness at long end, and also found a solution. Just behind the objective lens, there is a rubber boot which hides three screws with angled slots. When loosened, the objective can be moved slightly in or out, to obtain infinity focus at full extension. This helped sharpen it up even at shorter distances. If the 18-250 is built similarly, it should be a pretty easy DIY. If the lens isn't under warranty, it could well be worth a shot.
