Dave - will look forward to seeing your great photos with the new lens! PS - although I don't own a K5, I believe that the focus adjustment on the K5 does not require a debug menu, but is part of your standard menu. And the camera is supposed to "remember" your adjustments for individual lenses.
Tggt2fan - Yes, please do post some photos! Remember to reduce them down to 240 kb or smaller before uploading - otherwise, the forum software will automatically resize your photos and make them look rather soft... |

Here are some of the shots that I got with the K-X and new lens. I've very happy with them as I know I wouldn't have got the same results with the kit lens. Now I just need to remember that F2.8 isn't the only aperture setting available to me

Great color and variety, and nice use of DOF. Hope you will continue to enjoy the lens, and to post more photos too!

Well I got my lens Saturday in the mail and I had a chance to test it out today. So far it has mixed reviews. Luckily I have 30 days from Saturday in order to return it if it doesn't work out. What I am having trouble with is that the F-strop values do not appear on my main screens and I have to manually adjust it with the aperture ring. For the first set of images I made I forgot where I had it set and messed up a few images with the wrong values plugged in. Also it seems to have to hunt for AF slightly at 2.8, 3.5 and 4 once it gets past F/4 it locks immediately and does a great job. Also when I did get the f value correct for what I was shooting I saw not focus issues.
I guess in time I will get used to the aperture ring etc dave |

Dave - Unless your copy of this lens is different from mine, it's supposed to have an "A" setting. Look next to the 32 on the aperture ring. You might have to press the little black button to the left of the "A" to engage it. This should allow you to set the F-stop from the camera...

I agree with mole. Mine also has the "A" setting on the ring. When in the "A" position my K-X handles the F-stop from the camera.

I got a chance to test and use the lens last Saturday on a photo assignment for the local newspaper. The images came out better than I expected and the lens was very quick to focus.... All I really had to do was change my exposure settings as I moved around into different lighting situations.
I'll try to get a few images posted Friday or Saturday - need to get to bed as I have a bunch of shooting to do tomorrow afternoon and evening. dave |
