Sounds like something is recording sites you visit /what you search for and then sending you spam tailored to suit you.

Run some scans with:
Spybot Search+Destroy

They are 2 of the best programs for spyware removal and both are completely free!

Run a spyware program such as SpySweeper or Spybot, to name a couple, and you'll be surprised at what's lurking beneath your PC.

It should delete rouge cookies etc.

Also run an antivirus program, if not already doing so, with the latest virus definitions.

Hopefully, that should flush out your problem.

Furthermore, use a program to filter out 'crap' from all and sundry - Mailwasher is quite good. It allows you to set 'unfriendly' & 'Friends' email addresses as well as a host of other useful things.

Unfortunately, once your email address has been 'grabbed', then you're likely to receive spam from an ever increasing number of unscrupulous individuals.

Your e-mail adddress is visible. That's your problem.

It's not that hard to write a bot that pulls e-mail addresses from sites like this if you allow your e-mail address to be seen by anyone. After all, the company sending the Spam specializes in searching other sites for videos and other content that you may find useful. ;-)

You may want to edit your profile so that your e-mail address isn't visible (and your e-mail address is currently visible).

We don't share this information with anyone. But, if you have your profile setup so that others can see it, anyone can grab it.

So, if privacy is a concern, I'd uncheck the box that allows your e-mail address to be visible by others in your profile here (under the My Account Button). I can see that yours is currently visible to others.

Here is a direct link to edit it. You'll see the check box for allowing others to see your e-mail at the bottom of the page:

But, it's probably already available in search engines now, and a common practice of spammers is to scour web sites using bots to grab e-mail addresses. So, if you want to cut down on spam, it's a good idea not to allow others to see your e-mail address when you setup a profile when joining forums.

I never allow my e-mail address to be visible to others when I join any forum. If someone wants to contact me, they can do it via Private Message (and most forums have that feature). Here, I'm setup so that I receive e-mail notification of new PMs (but, others can't see my e-mail address).

I've seen one other member that got Spam from these guys, and this member's e-mail address was also visible (and I gave the other member the same advise).

You're probably getting more spam than you think because you're allowing anyone to see your e-mail address. Most companies are not going to be so obvious about where they got your e-mail address from in their Spam.
